Step-Out

STEP OUT – PROJECT INFORMATION

The Step Out Project was funded through the BBC Children in Need – Next Steps Programme and worked in partnership with  www.oasisyouth.co.uk  for 18 months between Nov 2020 and April 2022.

PROJECT PARTNERSHIP

As our organisations transition out of the Covid -19 lockdown, we developed a partnership aimed at supporting the integration of some of the most marginalised and disadvantaged children and young people into the existing activities and programmes of both organisations. Those who we supported, included those:

  • Experiencing the impact of adverse mental health;
  • With underlying health conditions or disabilities;
  • Who need additional support to access activities;
  • Living in poverty;
  • Who experience other barriers to participation.

The programme  complimented the ongoing provision of each organisation by:

  • Working with project partner organisations and other statutory and voluntary agencies to identify programme participants.
  • Establishing and delivering bespoke, small group programmes delivered over 12 week periods, supporting a total of 60 children and young people across the life span of the project.
  • Provided one to one work and developed support plans as required to ensure safe access to programmes.
  • Supported the integration of children and young people into the wider club activities.
  • Recruited, trained and developed a peer mentoring team, who supported the programme delivery and sustainability.
